Applications were submitted by: PA "Bauska Infra", PA "Fegda – SIA Vianova", PA "PRI Baltic Infra Consortium", PA "SouthGate Infrastructure Partners", and STRABAG Infrastructura Poludnie Sp. z o.o.
Following evaluation of the qualification requirements, candidates who meet the tender's requirements will be invited to take part in the next stage of the procurement and submit initial proposals.
A significant signal for PPP market development in Latvia
In PPPA's view, five candidate applications are a significant signal of interest from the private sector and the international market in participating in the development of Latvia's infrastructure through the PPP model.
Interest was already considerable at the project preparation stage — more than 60 interested parties from the road construction and maintenance, financial, and legal sectors attended the Bauska bypass PPP project's information day. Interest in the project was shown by businesses from Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Germany, Hungary, Portugal, and Luxembourg.
The Bauska bypass project is also significant in the broader context of financing Latvia's infrastructure. As the need for investment in transport, energy, public buildings, and other infrastructure grows, state budget and EU fund financing alone cannot deliver all the necessary projects.
The further progress of the Bauska bypass tender will be significant not only for this particular road infrastructure project, but also for the development of Latvia's PPP market as a whole.
